Demand Response
The Demand Response module runs on the same powerful Grid Director 2.0 platform as our other modules and leverages the integrated features to enable demand management, scheduling, control, reporting, and energy balancing. Bit Stew refers to the next generation of Demand Response as DR 3.0 and the focus of this will be on more sophisticated load shaping rather than just the simple load curtailment that takes place today. The Demand Response module of Grid Director has been designed and built to address the requirements around load shaping and performs this capability by taking advantage of the underlying real-time analytics and the rich information feeds that come from an AMI network and a Smart Grid network, as well as the feeds used to monitor generation and transmission assets.
The measurement, monitoring and analytical features of the Grid Director Demand Response module provide an unprecedented level of visibility and response - a response that can be tailored to immediate and localized demands. The Demand Response module includes important features such as:
- Real-time calendar of events.
- Intuitive schedule of DR events.
- Integration with AMI and Smart Grid networks.
- Integration with generation and transmission systems.
- Near real-time energy market details.
- Demand forecasting.
- Distributed generation capacity planning.
- Information rich dashboards and KPIs.
- Load control signal generation and monitoring.
- Interoperability with SE 1.0, SE 1.1 and SE 2.0 network devices.
- Broadband connections to remote energy management solutions.
- Management of demand response enrollment programs.
- Tracking and reporting of customer opt-in and opt-out.
